Harmony Road

Harrison has been taking music lessons since last September at Harmony Road Music Center. They use the Solfege method of teaching music. Simply put this method is used to train the ear to hear the notes on the scale using the syllables do, re, mi, fa, sol, la, ti. At his lessons we learn lots of simple songs. We sing with words and then with solfege notes. We use percussion instruments to feel the rhythm. We read and write the notes to the song. And we play the songs on the piano,. All of the lessons are group lessons and require parent involvement. In the picture below you can see the seven kids each sitting at a piano ready for the lesson to begin.

Yesterday he completed the last lesson in Book One. Each of the kids invited guests and performed two solos during class. Harrison did a great job! Bravo Harrison!
